Editing for Romance Writers
THE All-In Edit
This is a comprehensive editing experience that starts with a high-level analysis of your story, followed by a one-on-one personalized call, and concludes with detailed attention and corrections to your prose. Here’s how it works:
We start with a developmental edit, which is an editorial letter from me that will give you a big-picture overview of the manuscript highlighting the the things that stood out to me most with various story elements (plot, character, setting, theme, etc.) and recommending how to adjust them where necessary.
After that, we set up a 90-minute video call to discuss the developmental edit, strategize how to revise based on the recommendations, and set you in the right direction to make changes. (This is my favourite part! It’s so helpful to brainstorm in real time and to bounce ideas off each other.)
Once you’ve revised your manuscript and you feel it’s ready, you’ll send it back to me for a thorough line edit, which focuses on flow, style, phrasing, narrative consistency, and tone to tighten up your prose and make your story sing.
