It’s such a pleasure to introduce you to Irene Davis, who might be known to some of you as @RomMFA on Twitter — I love her self-imposed study of the history of romance novels. And now she has her own book out putting all those lessons into practice. Anyone But the Earl is a historical sports romance — yep, you heard that right: historical sports romance. The sport is rowing so it’s not an anachronistic hockey romance or anything. But it’s set in Gilded Age New York, and it’s so good at using tropes we all know and love (brother’s best friend, secret romance, a kinda arranged marriage) and doing something new with them. A fresh new voice in historical romance!
